I mainly use Sterling Silver in my jewelry, which refers to the minimum .925 grade (92.5 % silver). Fine silver (99.9% pure) is generally too soft for producing large functional objects; therefore, the silver is usually alloyed with either copper or titanium to give it strength, while at the same time preserving the ductility and beauty of the precious metal. Occasionally I do use Fine silver when I want the piece to be extra bright. I use recycled silver whenever possible. Most of my organic castings are Britannia Silver which is an alloy of 95.84 silver and the remaining balance is copper. |
